South Padre Island KOA is a unique environmental reclamation project. Originally the property was a 14.57-acre eyesore. Over the years the area was cluttered with two semi-abandoned 330,000 gallon water storage tanks, a 50'x50' concrete cistern, and dredge (spoil) fill for the old Queen Isabella Causeway. In an exceptionally imaginative way, the water tanks were redesigned to house a beautiful campground general store, condos for rent, laundry room, bathhouses, and recreation areas (including a fitness center). A pristine 25-meter pool and hot tub are in the old cistern area. From environmental disaster to a spectacular RV Resort, South Padre Island KOA now offers guests the latest accommodations and service in beautiful surroundings.
